Becoming a Rainbow Surfer

Author’s Note

For educators and parents

When a farmer plants corn seed, he expects corn to grow, not plums or Choko milk.  Our thoughts are kind of like seeds.  When we send out positive thoughts, we receive positive results. But when we send out negative thoughts, we receive negative results.  Like the farmer, we reap what we sow.

The message in the Rainbow Surfers series is that every child is a creator. A creator simply means that people create their life by what they’re thinking about. Rainbow Surfers are creators who think their thoughts on purpose, deliberately, thus creating their life by design. As a result, they get more of what they want and less of what they don’t want in life.

The Five Keys to becoming Rainbow Surfer:

  1. You are the creator of your life experience.
  2. Your thoughts do the creating.
  3. Your “feel good / feel bad” emotions serve to guide your thoughts.
  4. Focus your thoughts on what you want. (What makes you feel good?)
  5. Because …nothing is more important than that you feel good (as you’re thinking the thoughts you’re thinking).

Your life is created by the thoughts you focus on.  But remember, when we think a thought about a desire, it is really a 2-sided thought (much like there’s 2 sides to a coin). When you pick up a coin, you pick up both the heads and the tails side of the coin. Likewise, when you think a thought, you have 2 options of where to place your attention: the having of your desire versus the not having of that desire. You get to choose.

Since you get what you focus on, you cannot get what you want by focusing on its opposite. You will get whatever you give your attention to, whether it is wanted or not.

Emotions are Important:

Another key factor to Rainbow Surfing is the role emotions play while you are thinking thoughts. It is your emotions, which either feel positive (feel good) or negative (feel bad) as you think, that serve as guidance for directing your thoughts to the things you want in life.  And it’s your emotions that tell you which side of your desire you’re giving your attention to.

The key then is to keep your thoughts and attention on the wanted side of your desire (coin). Or sometimes you will need to shift your thoughts from the unwanted to the wanted side of your desire (coin).  Essentially, you “flip” your anxious thoughts about your unfulfilled desire to joyful anticipation of your desire being fulfilled.

Make it your daily goal to practice the habit of feeling good by giving your attention to the things you want, rather than the things you don’t want.

And like the farmer who is certain of the outcome when he plants corn, you too can be certain of the outcomes that will come to you when you feel good!
